Response


Disaster Response is the process of providing assistance to affected people during and immediately after a disaster.   
 
The aim of all response actions is to save lives and protect private and public properties. These usually involve various stakeholders; Police (Local Police, SMF, SSU, Coast Guard, and Helicopter Squadron), Fire Services, Health Services, Local Authorities (Municipal and District Councils) through their Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committees; all interventions being coordinated and monitored by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Centre. 

Response (emergency services) 

Activities include:

- the implementation of emergency plans and procedures;

- the issuing of emergency warnings; 

- the mobilisation of resources in response to emergency incidents; 

- the provision of immediate relief and assistance (medical, shelters, food…etc) and  search and rescue.
